WHERE I COME FROM
I was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC. My father was a career Air Force officer who served as a Navigator Bombardier in WWII and later in NATO Intelligence. My family has lived in Arizona since 1965, and my parents retired to Prescott in 1976. I excelled in Arizona's public school system and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I worked 10 years as a Registered Nurse. I married Dr. Tom Rusing, a General Surgeon, in 1978 at Sacred Heart Church in Prescott. The Rusing family had come to Prescott in 1961 and started Julie Ann’s Bakery. As a student nurse, I volunteered with the Kiché Maya people in the mountains of Guatemala, giving polio and DPT vaccinations. Tom and I volunteered for 6 months as Medical Volunteers at a small hospital in the highlands of Kenya in 1985, before returning to Prescott to open Prescott Surgical Clinic, and to raise a family. We are the proud parents of 3 sons. There are now 3 generations of Rusings living in Prescott!
I enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking the scenic trails, parks and lakes in and around Prescott. Husband Tom and I can often be found downtown, enjoying Prescott’s vibrant arts and culture scene, food, music and the many events Prescott has to offer!
ELECTED TWICE TO CITY COUNCIL
I was overwhelmingly elected in a nonpartisan election in 2019, running on the important issues of Growth and Development, Water, Traffic, and Preservation of our natural beauty and our wonderful quality of life. I was sworn in on Nov. 19, 2019 to a 4-year term. I was the only Candidate that did not take campaign donations from developers. I was also the only Candidate to support the position of Save the Dells, a grassroots organization that united the community to preserve the “Heart of the Dells.”
I was re-elected to my second term in 2023, so that I could continue to be your voice on Council.
Now, I am stepping up to run for Mayor, so that I may continue to work hard representing the wonderful people of Prescott.
ABOUT GOOD GOVERNANCE
I believe in “We the People.” Council policy must be driven by you, the people of Prescott. Public input is essential. Your City Council is the level of government that is closest to you, and Council decisions affect your daily lives the most. As your Mayor I will work tirelessly to represent all Prescott residents.

A VISION FOR PRESCOTT
We, the people of Prescott, strive and should continue to strive, every day, to protect and enhance all of the elements that make Prescott special.
We have a wonderful mélange of a historic downtown, charming neighborhoods, Western heritage, and a vibrant food, music, and arts scene. We offer lakes, trails, and unspoiled open spaces for hiking, biking, kayaking, and more, for the outdoor enthusiasts, all within minutes of town. We enjoy a unique life style, with a friendly, small town atmosphere.
All of this while maintaining our position as a favorite ecotourism destination, an economic boon to our citizens and our varied business, educational, and healthcare communities.
COMMITTED TO COMMON SENSE AND COMMUNITY

Supports well-planned, well-managed growth that respects our values and values our town.

A vision for developing a diverse business community and a vibrant downtown.

the people of Prescott.
